How fast can I take my Septum piercing out, and will it ring airport metal detectors?

it is such a small piece of jewelry that the metal will absolutely not set off the metal detectors. i recently traveled overseas, and have my septum pierced [as well as 17 other piercings right now] and had no problems with the metal detectors at all.

it would be best for the healing process if you don’t take it out for at least a month, the more you take it out and put it back in, the more trauma it could cause and it will take longer to heal.

I have snakebites and multiple ear piercings and they weren’t a problem when I passed the metal detector. So it shouldn’t be a problem ;)

i’m pretty sure it won’t set off metal detectors in the airport.

I had both my septum ring and cartilage ring in when I went past the metal detectors and wands at the Nokia theater and airport, and they didn’t register at all. You should get by without a problem.

If you’re really that concerned about it, you can buy a septum retainer made of acrylic or an organic material. I get my jewellery from and they usually deliver within like 3 or 4 days.

Hope this helps. Good luck :-)
